Tri-Cities, Washington Voted #2 for Employment Growth for Spring 2009

The Tri-Cities was voted #2 for employment growth for Spring 2009 as reported by Forbes.com. The Tri-Cities was credited with an impressive number of engineers and scientists…once home to the nation’s most Ph.D.’s per capita, with Pacific Northwest National Lab employing many of them to convert agricultural materials into plastics and biofuels and to perform research involving fuel cells. As well as our agriculture industry providing farming and produce packaging jobs to many workers. The quarterly survey conducted by Manpower’s Employment Outlook Survey measured employers’ intentions of increasing or decreasing their number of employees over the next three months. Of the 31,800 public and private sector employers surveyed in 201 metropolitan areas throughout the U.S., 15% anticipate increases in hiring, 14% said they’d likely decrease staff, and 67% foresaw no change.
